Travel has opened to some extent but of course, with some restrictions. Unless last year after the onset of the pandemic, the journey has taken a back seat this year. You can travel but must abide by certain Hong Kong travel restrictions. There are specific rules that are required to be followed.
Pre-departure requirements for entering Hong Kong:
If you are traveling through Hong Kong, you will have to abide by specific rules adhering to COVID protocols. You will have to take a test at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure. There is a clear distinction of zones based on the risk factor of viruses classified as high, medium, and low-risk countries. There are various restrictions for all the categories. All these travelers must produce a certificate issued by a Government approved institution stating that they had undergone a PCR test and have tested negative. They will have to abide by certain conditions mentioned in the checklist. The passengers will have to be quarantined in certain hotels and institutions, where they will be isolated and tested at regular intervals. The government authorities will conduct the test, and they will indicate if the travelers can be released from quarantine.
Vaccination requirements: The airport authorities will check the vaccine certificates. The critical condition for vaccination is that the second dose should be taken at least 14 days before the scheduled journey. The minimum time for developing herd immunity against the virus is 14 days after vaccination. Residents of Hong Kong who are between the ages of 12 to 17 years and have been given a single dose are considered fully vaccinated. Also, read the instructions provided on the website for the requirement of accredited vaccinations. All passengers will have to fill a declaration form that requires their travel history for the last 21 days. If you have traveled to any of the countries that fall in the category of a high, medium, or low-risk category, you will have to undergo the standard procedure. The online declaration form is to be demonstrated with a QR code at the airport, and the authority will check on the same.
For the diplomatic passport holders: All people having diplomatic passports visiting any country apart from Mainland China will have to meet specific requirements. They will have to provide a certificate stating a negative result from the sample collected not before 48 hours. People arriving in Hong Kong will have to take a COVID test. Even after the adverse effect, the people are expected to undergo self-isolation in their respective centers. The rules are valid for people having or maybe without the possession of a diplomatic passport.
